Modern slavery is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights. It takes many forms including slavery, servitude, forced and compulsory labour, and human trafficking.
International Food Link (IFL) takes a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, and we are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships. We expect the same high standards from all our suppliers and other business partners.
IFL acknowledges its responsibilities in relation to tackling modern slavery and commits to complying with the provisions in the Modern Slavery Act 2015. We understand that this requires an ongoing review of our internal practices in relation to our labour force. In addition, where we specify certain suppliers (e.g. transport or shipping) we will include specific prohibitions against the use of forced, compulsory, or trafficked labour, as well as anyone held in slavery or servitude. Where our customers specify the suppliers with whom we interact, we will ensure that these customers have appropriate Modern Slavery policies/statements in place.
IFL has a turnover of less than £36m and as a result is not required to publish an annual modern slavery report/statement. However, IFL strictly adheres to the minimum standards required in relation to our responsibilities under relevant employment legislation.
IFL has not, to our knowledge, conducted any business with another organisation which has been found to have involved itself with modern slavery.
This policy applies to all individuals who work for IFL or on our behalf in any capacity, including employees at all levels, directors, managers, agency workers, contractors, external consultants, and business partners. Management at all levels is responsible for ensuring that staff reporting to them understand and comply with this policy, as well as ensuring that they receive appropriate training.
Feedback and suggestions for the improvement of this policy are welcomed. Any comments, suggestions or queries are encouraged and should be addressed to Chris Hughes (chris.hughes@intfoodlink.com).
