The Chippy

The Chippy was a new small business opening in Hong Kong, provides the traditional British fish & chip shop experience. They approached IFL through distribution wholesaler Zanfish to support their international supply chain management.


After successfully arranging an initial sea freight shipment of frozen and ambient products from the UK, additional fish and chips were required to keep a stand at the Chater Garden – Best of British Show open, due to the sales of the previous campaign being so successful. Timing was of the utmost importance to continue the sales at the show.


IFL received an order from The Chippy that would be enough fish and chips to last through the remainder of the Best of British show. Pre-payment was made to Zanfish (the wholesaler) made to secure speedy delivery of products, directly from multiple supplier base. In addition, health certificate applications were made in advance to prevent delays due to lead times of these documents from UK government offices. After receipt of the products, IFL repacked them into insulated pallet boxes with dry ice ready for airfreight, which itself was arranged by IFL.The product arrived at in Hong Kong the day before the show was scheduled to relaunch. IFL arranged the product to be customs-cleared and delivered directly to Chater Garden. The agent in charge in Hong Kong even visited the site the night before to ensure truck would have clear entry. Pallet boxes were unpacked at the show, and empty packaging was collected and disposed of.


IFL fully supported The Chippy’s challenging brief, allowing for a successful opening followed by restocking to reopen the stand. The service was seamless, and The Chippy’s customers were unaware of any potential disruption that could have been caused if IFL were not involved. The Chippy was able to successfully showcase the brand at this high profile event, as part of its strategy for growth of the concept in Asia.
